What a great night we had with a visit from England's Glory Ladies Morris. We had an interesting talk on the history of Morris Dancing, the regional differences and the varied dances they performed. They kindly performed some of their dances and afterwards they encouraged us to join in with some of their dances. I’m glad to report no injuries were sustained from the clapping of our sticks despite some near misses. We thank England’s Glory Ladies for their patience in teaching us their dances; I think I can say on behalf of all members on the night we had a lot of fun. Please check out their website at : www.englandsglory.org.uk or their Facebook page, they’re very keen for new members.

Amelia gave us a fascinating talk on how to go about researching your family history, using her own experience of discovering her own family history. Amelia has traced her family back to the 17th century, and she has been researching her family history for over 24 years.
She also explained how DNA tests have helped her to solve some of her genealogical questions. She also pointed out the potential risks of using DNA tests in researching your family history can throw up some unexpected findings. Amelia is about to launch her family history business Family Tree Café, www.familytreecafe.co.uk, we wish her every success for her new business. |
